So, without further ado, let's met the heroine of Dark is the Night and she what she has to say when asked..."What would you do for love?"

This was a really hard question for me when it came time to be answered. I scarcely even subscribed to the notion of love being anything more than a commercial invention to sucker hopeless romantics into buying candy and cards.

When I met Alexander, it was cosmic. I could feel him, through a mystical ethereal connection. His emotions, so carefully veiled by his stone cold visage, were crystal clear and I knew I was in love. It was nothing like any heart wrenching diamond commercial could ever imitate. I was head over heels.

Rationale, logic and wisdom all flew south in different directions and coherent thought was rendered all but impossible, unless I was thinking of him. Let me tell you, I had it bad for this guy. I still do.

But then I discovered he was a vampire. And worse than that, he was the murderer I was tracking when I was still a mortal and still a police detective. I felt ripped in half. Exposed in ways I could never imagine. If someone had torn me in two, stripped me naked and staked me to the ground amidst a pack of hungry wolves, it might compare.

But stronger still, was my love for him. It could not be denied. In that instant, I knew I would do anything for him. We say that a lot. “I would do anything for you, babe”. But it’s meant as a sentiment, not a truthful declaration.

For me, it was all truth and it was not pretty. Murder, Breaking and Entering, Malicious Mischief, Fraud, Theft, Falsification of Evidence, Tampering with Evidence and Obstruction of Justice were only the beginning of the crimes I quickly accompliced myself too, in the name of love.

I don’t condone or justify my actions, but I do hope for each of you, one day you find a love that strong. So strong you could honestly say “I’d do anything for you, babe.”
