Her Guardian Angel & Giveaway with Felicity Heaton

It’s almost time! Felicity Heaton’s full length addition to the Her Angel series will be out soon and she’s here to share the details with us along with an awesome giveaway! She’s giving away one eBook of Her Warrior Angel and book swag including signed book cover flats and bookmarks to more winners! AND it’s international folks! The contest must-do’s are just below. For now…I give you Felicity Heaton and the Her Angel latest addition!

It’s great to be back here at Bookin It Reviews, and wonderful to finally be talking about another book in my Her Angel romance series. The latest story in the series, Her Guardian Angel, will be available from tomorrow, Saturday 30th July. It’s the first novel length story in the series. The first three were all novellas.

We started the series back in August 2010 with the sexy alpha hero Apollyon and his beautiful French witch, Serenity, in Her Dark Angel. In October, the sensitive but passionate Lukas followed in Her Fallen Angel with his human heroine, Annelie. Another very alpha hero in the form of hunter angel Einar and a very sassy alpha half-demon heroine Taylor followed in November with Her Warrior Angel.

Now, it’s time for them all to come together again along with a new angelic hero, Marcus, a guardian angel on a mission to protect a mortal female, Amelia, from a dark destiny.

Writing Her Guardian Angel was a real adventure for me. It’s an epic love story full of emotion, passion and action, non-stop from start to finish, with dramatic scenes that will melt even the hardest heart and certainly caused a few tears when I was writing them! I love the world I’ve created with the Her Angel series, and being able to explore it in a novel length story was wonderful. I was able to reveal more about the angels and the world they live in, Heaven and Hell, and the politics behind everything. In Her Guardian Angel, we visit all three realms—Heaven, Hell and the mortal world. The action takes place in all three worlds, but mostly Heaven and the mortal realm. Readers will be able to finally see what my vision of Heaven is like!

I mixed together several story ideas when plotting Her Guardian Angel, combining notes I had written over the past two years, and moulding it into a story that will take readers on a wild rollercoaster ride full of tension, drama and desire. The plot is intense, from the moment Amelia is attacked by demonic angels and discovers that there’s more to the sexy man next door, Marcus, than meets the eye. She’s thrown into his world and what starts out feeling like a dream rapidly becomes a nightmare and a fight for survival for both of them. I wrote the first draft of the story in record time because the plot swept me along and I couldn’t stop.

It’s not just the plot that will carry readers away either. The romance between Marcus and Amelia is as much a rollercoaster as the action that is bringing them together. I’d be a liar if I said that Her Guardian Angel is the heroine, Amelia’s, story. It’s all about Amelia, but it’s Marcus who really grows throughout the story.

Marcus is a very distant soul. He’s an angel whose loyalty is to Heaven and his duty, and his mission is what matters most to him. He doesn’t like mortals and wants to join Heaven’s army where he won’t have to interact with them, and doesn’t believe that he can be changed, but meeting Amelia and coming to know her does gradually change him. When he saves her from her rowdy ex-lover in the dead of night and protects her, he talks to her for the first time and it triggers something in him that only intensifies when she touches his hand, the brief contact awakening feelings he has suppressed and ignored. He craves her and the new feelings he experiences. Readers will grow with him as he learns about emotions, about desire and most of all the lengths that a man will go to in the name of love. He goes from fighting for Heaven to fighting for Amelia, against serious and deadly odds, and in the process he learns more about himself and about the strength that love can give us.

In all of the previous stories in the series, we’ve had a notion that there are darker sides to the angels. In Her Guardian Angel, we find a man in Marcus who is aware of his darkness and who accepts that he isn’t a good man. He has taken thousands of mortal lives during his current lifetime, reaping battlefields in the name of Heaven, and feels unworthy of someone as pure and kind as Amelia. He is the opposite in some respects of how readers will perceive angels, and how the heroine sees them. He is comfortable with the things he has done until he realises that he’s falling for Amelia, and then he wants to warn her away, to convince her that he’s dangerous and not worthy of her. He wants to protect her from everything, including himself. Will he find the forgiveness he desires from Amelia and will she accept him for what he is? Well… you’ll have to read the story to find out.

Her Guardian Angel
A simple mission becomes a fight for survival in this fantastic instalment in the Her Angel series.

A guardian angel dedicated to his duty, Marcus will do whatever Heaven asks of him, but even his loyalty has its limits. When his superior orders him to gain Amelia’s trust through seduction, Marcus starts to question his mission and his feelings for the beautiful woman he has watched over since her birth.

Amelia has gone from one bad relationship to another, so when a gorgeous guy moves in next door looking like Mr Right, she hopes he doesn’t turn out to be another black knight in disguise. But there’s more to Marcus than meets the eye, and when he rescues her from three demonic men, Amelia is thrust into his nightmarish world—a world where God and the Devil exist, and only one angel can save her from death—Marcus, the angel she’s falling in love with.

On the run from demonic angels and the Devil himself, aided by Marcus’s angel friends and their amazing women, fighting for survival against the odds, Marcus and Amelia discover a love that will last forever.

A love so strong it will shake Heaven and Hell.

Her Guardian Angel is released on July 30th. Find out more at my website: http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/

Biography:
Felicity Heaton is a romance author writing as both Felicity Heaton and F E Heaton. She is passionate about penning paranormal tales full of vampires, witches, werewolves, angels and shape-shifters, and has been interested in all things preternatural and fantastical since she was just a child. Her other passion is science-fiction and she likes nothing more than to immerse herself in a whole new universe and the amazing species therein. She used to while away days at school and college dreaming of vampires, werewolves and witches, or being lost in space, and used to while away evenings watching movies about them or reading gothic horror stories, science-fiction and romances.

Having tried her hand at various romance genres, it was only natural for her to turn her focus back to the paranormal, fantasy and science-fiction worlds she enjoys so much. She loves to write seductive, sexy and strong vampires, werewolves, witches, angels and alien species. The worlds she often dreams up for them are vicious, dark and dangerous, reflecting aspects of the heroines and heroes, but her characters also love deeply, laugh, cry and feel every emotion as keenly as anyone does. She makes no excuses for the darkness surrounding them, especially the paranormal creatures, and says that this is their world. She’s just honoured to write down their adventures.

Witches of Westaddy

The Tempest

A bewitching woman named Adira de la Fay haunts the grounds of Adsbury Manor, a psychiatric care center where Doctor Jase Maddox has taken a longed-for position. Her delicate beauty and soulful eyes unsettle him while her strange ability to nurse dead plants into beautiful blooms, her fervor for playing the cello, and her obsession with all things Shakespeare make Jase suspect her mind is more intact than her previous doctors have believed. Between this puzzle and the desires she raises in his body, he can’t stay away from her.

Adira de la Fay has spent a lifetime locked behind the walls, and amongst the patients, of Adsbury Manor. As her new doctor helps her unknowingly reach her potential by lessening her medication, her powers begin coming back in force. Desperate to escape her circumstances and find a way to right the past, she asks the intriguing man for help. Though he satisfies her lusts, she fears she cannot be truly happy until she claims her rightful place and balances the magical world.

As Dr. Jase unlocks Adira’s passions, she reveals that her gifts run deeper than anyone imagined and that he has untapped powers of his own. Though uncertain as to whether he believes in this strange new world, he must free her from the Bedlam that has swallowed her life. With his career jeopardized, he removes her from Adsbury Manor though the move could land him in prison and her back into the world that has nearly destroyed all she is.

Can Your Latest Book Idea Become the Next Best Seller?

Good Morning! Today I want to cover at topic that is often a stumbling block for many novice writers and even professional writers at times. Today’s post is about purpose. So, let’s get started…

We all have a unique and special story to tell. From explaining business strategies to revealing our inner most dreams and desires, we all have a spontaneous desire to share our experiences with the world. Because of this, bookstore shelves are jammed with numerous titles that promise to entertain, enlighten, and inform readers.

Perhaps, then, the old saying stating that “everyone has at least one book in them” truly applies. If that’s the case, how can you be sure whether your existing idea actually is book worthy or if it needs some fine-tuning in order to obtain maximum marketability?

Before you decide to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), place your book idea to the test. Ask yourself the following questions as a way to further hone in on your idea’s development which can result in a manuscript destined to reach the best-seller list.

•Can you state your book’s purpose in fewer than 10 words?
Many new writers face the challenge of wanting to offer too much information rather too quickly. In lieu of focusing on one specific idea, they attempt to encapsulate multiple concepts into one book. This method not only causes it to become more difficult to organize your book, but it also overwhelms your readers.

With any good and effective book, it is possible to state the book’s specific purpose in 10 words or even fewer. Understand that your purpose will not be identical to your theme or plot. The book’s purpose is very much what you specifically want the reader to perform or think as a result of reading your book. Now, for example the statements “to live a better life” or “to manage a better business” are not really specific. A purpose should never be generalized. It’s a definite action in which you motivate the reader
to embark upon.

For instance, if you’re writing a romance book, your purpose ought to be, to provide your readers with entertainment and escape, for example novels fill time that might otherwise be filled with boredom, and they offer a temporary escape from our workaday worlds. Your purpose shouldn't be to just entertain your reader or to just offer a means of escaping our day to day world. If you are serious about writing quality books, you need to provide both these things. Sure, genre fiction must always put entertainment first (in the form of a great plot), and readers of literary fiction will expect deep characterization and a profound exploration of theme. But that doesn't mean that you can concentrate on only the one thing and neglect the other. That’s just not the right approach. Remember, there are only two types of novels that matter, good novels and bad novels and you can find both varieties in every section of a bookstore. Keep your purpose and focus on these two specific points so that you can deliver plenty of entertainment and meaningful human understanding.

•Does your book target a specific audience?
While you most certainly want to have a large audience to market your book to, you additionally will want readers that are targeted in your genre. Simply stating that your audience is “General Public” or “Women” or “Men” is not really a targeted audience. Why? Don’t assume all Men hold the same concerns, not all women have an interest in the same topics, and not everybody in the general public are able to understand your ideas.

If you can narrow your audience to include those with a specific and selected tie to your genre or who fit a specific demographic, you gain a marketing edge that could position your book more effectively. So rather than stating that your audience is “General Public,” maybe you can narrow it down to “Young Adults,” “middle age women,” or “men.” Rather than targeting the broad category of “women,” you’d have better results by focusing on “women over age 50,” “working moms,” or “single women under age 35.” Each one of these categories has a large number of people, yet they are narrow enough to help you streamline your message.

•Are you saying something new and unique?
If you want readers to invest the time and money to buy and read your book, you will have to offer them something new and unique. A great number of writers attempt to reword or rehash old and outdated ideas that others have stated again and again. While you should use other people’s works to substantiate claims or add credibility to your book, ensure that your central idea is fresh and unique, especially when writing non-fiction.

How can you ensure that your approach is completely new? One way is to incorporate the results of a survey you have personally conducted. Include studies out of your own business or life. Have interviews with individuals that can contribute facts and information. Add aspects of yourself to punctuate your message. After all, this is your book, and much of our understanding, of course, comes from our first-hand experiences. But it also comes from hearing about the experiences of others - and what is a novel if not one of the best ways there is to tap into what our fellow humans think and feel about this world and our place in it.

Many writers are afraid to state a brand new opinion on a topic or a subject that others have covered. They think that they could turn people off or offend. Don’t forget that people like controversy, therefore if your book can stir things up and make people think twice about something, you’ll have greater chance of creating a buzz about your book. When it’s all said and written the purpose of a novel is to entertain and provide understanding of the human condition. Bad novels provide entertainment or understanding. But only good novels provide both.

So in closing, before starting your novel, make sure you know the purpose of your book and from there you can focus on your theme.

I hope you’ve found this information useful. Here’s to your writing success! If you have any questions or would like to add to today’s topic please feel free to comment.

I’m Not A Sex Therapist - I Don’t Even Play One on TV

Writing erotic romance has never been so interesting, just ask Author Roz Lee! In fact, she's here today to share her answers on a few choice questions she's received since becoming a published erotic romance author. And she also generously offered a surprise giveaway of either her first book in her Lothario series, The Lust Boat or the second in the series, Show Me The Ropes in celebration of her August 1st release of Love Me Twice, the third installment of her Lothario Series!

I'll give the details on how to enter the giveaway after you enjoy a good laugh with Roz! :-)

Roz Lee has been married to her best friend, and high school sweetheart, for over three decades. These days she splits her time between their home in rural New Jersey, and Southern California, where her husband works. Even though she’s lived on both coasts, her heart lies in between, in Texas. A Texan by birth, she can trace her family back to the Republic of Texas. With roots that deep, she says, “You can’t ever really leave.” Roz and her husband have two grown daughters they couldn't be more proud of, and are currently raising a ten-year-old Labrador Retriever, Betty Boop, who isn’t aware of her canine heritage. When Roz isn't writing, she’s reading, or traipsing around the country on one adventure or another. No trip is too small, no tourist trap too cheesy, and no road unworthy of traveling.

Something I never expected when I sold my first erotic romance novel was being viewed as something of a sex expert. Trust me – I am not.  Here are a few of the more frequent questions I get, and my not-worth-the-paper-they’re-printed-on, answers. These, and a credit card, will get you a cup of coffee.

Note – 99.99% of my readers are female, so my answers are geared toward that demographic.

Q – I think I’d like to try some of the things in your book. Have you tried them?

A – I plead the 5th.  How’s that for a non-answer? The truth is, you only asked me that, thinking if I said no you’d have an excuse to not try something new, and if I said yes, somehow I’d be giving you permission to try something, and then you could blame me if you didn’t like it.  FYI – People who write mysteries don’t need to kill someone in order to write about murder. Yeah, I know it’s a snarky answer – deal with it.

Q – Do people really do all those things?

A – That, and so much more. Trust me, I’ve done my research, and this is the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Q- I haven’t been very adventurous. How do I tell my guy I want to try something new?

A –If a man thinks something is going to lead to him getting more sex, he’s all for it. No matter what it is. Only you know your man well enough to decide how to approach him. I don’t suggest ambush level surprises though. Little, naughty surprises like telling him you aren’t wearing any panties, right after the waiter brings dessert, are okay. Just check to make sure the restaurant has a defibrillator handy first.

Q – What if I try something, and I don’t like it?

A –I tried Brussels Sprouts once. I didn’t like them. I haven’t eaten them since.

Q – I’d like to try some toys in the bedroom. How do I tell my guy?

A – Unless he’s a mind reader, you’re going to have to say something.

There are lots of places to buy adult toys. There are many female friendly brick and mortar stores these days. If there is one in your area, ask your guy to go with you to ‘look around’ or casually indicate it might be fun to see what they have. He won’t say no. Trust me on this.

Too shy to walk into a store? Shop online. There are more online stores than you can possible count. Pick one, bring it up on the screen, and invite your guy over to see what you’ve found. “Hey, look at this? I wonder what that would feel like?”  If you see something you both find interesting – order it. Your postman will NOT know. Don’t ask me how I know this.

Q – Should I watch porn with my guy?

A – Not unless it turns you on too. Traditional porn is made for men. Men are visual creatures. Women – not so much. It’s a physical thing, no matter what that group of crazy psychologists say. Men are built to respond to visual cues. Women typically need more to get in the mood. None of the women in those things are actually having the big O. They just sound like they are. (all that moaning and screaming, as well as the body parts sound effects are dubbed in, FYI). This is for the benefit of the men who are their target audience. All that screaming feeds the male need to be the dominant one (usually). Every guy wants to think he can make his woman scream his name. You’re a lucky woman if your guy can.

Porn gives men the idea that women like to be twisted into pretzel shapes, when in fact, we don’t. Most of us couldn’t if our life depended on it. It’s all camera angles, not reality. I look at it the same way I would watching TV with a child. Use it as a teaching opportunity. Point out what isn’t reality, just in case your guy hasn’t caught on yet. Guys are always willing to learn when it comes to sex, especially if they think a good report card is going to lead to more sex for them. Trust me on this.

Watch if you want to, but if you’ve just read a really sexy scene, and it turned you on – hand the book over to your guy – point out the scene, and ask him to read it and tell you what he thinks. Unless he’s dead, he’ll respond. That’s your cue to ask if he’d like to try something similar.

Q – Where do you get your ideas?

A – I read. A lot. I read non-fiction books on sexual issues. I read fiction. I read self-help books. I read blogs and websites dedicated to various lifestyles, kinks, and sexual issues. In short – I research. I take what I learn and try to translate that into something I think women will like to read. So far, it’s working out pretty good for me.

Q – Am I kinky because the stuff I read turns me on?

A –No.

Q – Are you kinky?

A – Only if I sleep wrong. Then I get this wicked kink in the back of my neck. You didn’t really think I was going to answer that, did you?

SUMMARY: (taken from the author's site)
Josie Harper had boyfriends, lovers, and even friends with benefits. None of them could satisfy her. Something had always been missing—something she was now desperate to find.
Gavin Scott longed for the perfect submissive. A woman worthy of the gift he could give to her as a Dom. Most failed to meet his expectations and he’d all but given up hope.
A high class match-maker in Las Vegas brings Josie and Gavin together. Tonight, Gavin will introduce Josie to the world of BDSM. As he skillfully guides her through the experience, Josie isn’t the only one captivated. Gavin is in awe of her control, someone this new to the lifestyle shouldn’t possess this great of a talent.
During their journey, Josie will find the missing piece of her soul and Gavin will meet the woman who was born to submit to him.
*Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable.

FAVORITE LINE:
Honor touched his soul to be granted the right to assist her. Locking the door behind him, he dropped the bag slung over his shoulder and approached her. As he drew closer, her breathing deepened and the blush on her cheeks grew. ~ Gavin

TEASER:
Madame Eve had picked her perfect match indeed, everything her dreams were made of and more. Tanned and shirtless, with hard lines of muscles, dressed in a pair of dark jeans, he looked delicious. His outfit not at all what she’d expected, leather pants would have been more appropriate. Not saying his attire displeased her—he looked spectacular. ~ Josie

PLOT:
Forever Bound - a novella layered with emotional depth that delivers! It's not easy to write a short and spicy story, but I consider this a perfect novella to wet your feet in light BDSM if you've never read this sub-genre in romance. The author brings together the perfect blend of fantasy and eroticism that weaves a sizzling tale of discovery and acceptance that ends in such a way that will leave you with a warm smile of satisfaction.

SETTING:
A room specifically detailed and set up for the perfect night of pleasure.

WRITING:
With each new story Ms. Kennedy's style becomes smoother and more fluid. Her third person and ability to move between point of views leaves me feeling that I've read a well rounded and entertaining book. I consider Forever Bound, although short, among her best works and I can't wait for another 1Night Stand by Ms. Kennedy to come out!

CHARACTERS:
Sweet and submissive Josie has finally had enough of the empty feeling inside and she has taken a stand in Forever Bound to find what will fill the void. For this alone I admire the heroine and took away the meaning of standing up for what will make you happy. The hero, Gavin, was the perfect Dom and gentleman for Josie. He knew when to push her boundaries and when to allow her to seek out her true feelings. I absolutely loved both characters and almost cried with how the ending wrapped up.

LAST THOUGHTS:
Forever Bound is a must read if you like light BDSM. It will most definitely help you get through your lunch break and quiet possibly give you very interesting dreams as if read before bedtime!

WHO IS AUTHOR STACEY KENNEDY:
I love the paranormal romance/urban fantasy genre and love a series more!! Nothing can hook me in more than an adventure and one that keeps on going. I love a page turner, one where I’m up at a ridiculous time and my eyes burn because I can’t stop reading. Witty characters, dominant men, danger, action, romance and hot sex―oh my!
My novels are lighthearted fantasy, heart squeezing, thigh-clenching romance, and even give a good chuckle every now and again.  I’m not a planner.  I don’t write with a set idea because no matter what I plan, the characters’ voices always come through and demand I listen to them. So, I gave up trying to fight it!

Book Flick Reading (16) - A Warrior's Witch Stacey Kennedy

(My weekly blog hop is just below this post)
I waited all week for it to finally be Friday! In fact, I believe I started last Sunday out wishing it were already Friday. Now that it is here I hope it passes slowly! :-) And since it's Friday that means it's time for another Book Flick Reading! As always, please remember, you are welcome to share your link below in the comment section if you have a vlog reading of your own. My Book Flick Reading is just for fun now with a twist on my thoughts for the books I am reading form at the end of each video. For those that are new to the blog, the idea behind my Book Flick Reading is to share a small snippet from a book I am reading or want to share here with you. I hope you enjoy my videos!

Today's feature reading is for Stacey Kennedy's A Warrior's Witch. This book is part of a spin off of another series she wrote titled The Magical Sword Series. Ms. Kennedy's books are a bit different than what I have seen by other authors of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. her style adds a flare and spice that has me always wanting to read her books. Decades old guilt collide with a murder, igniting a battle in a warrior’s soul to choose between love and duty…
Murder has brought Talon, Master of Guardians, as well as Zia, his witch and Master of Witches, to Chicago. The manner of death appears to be a suicide, but Talon is far from ready to close the case. To avenge the Guardian linked to his past, he agrees to take on the assignment, and find her killer.
As they dive deeper into the investigation, they find themselves entering a world where BDSM is the norm. A lifestyle that Zia is uncomfortable with and, rattled by this new development, she is more than ready to return to the Otherworld. But their investigation quickly takes an unexpected twist when they discover that they’re not only hunting a killer but also someone who is controlling supernaturals in Chicago.
Their mission not only brings danger, but also forces Talon to deal with decades old guilt that corrodes his soul. Every event that unfolds only deepens his fight and pushes him to face an ultimate choice—what is more important—his duty to the Otherworld or the witch he holds closest to his heart?
