Betty Being Bad a Debut Release and Giveaway With Jean Paradis

(I had to momentarily revert this post back to draft form to fix an HTML error. This giveaway is now over and winner have been notified)
BIR is proud to present a wonderful debut author from Red Sage that has made her appearance with a hot and sizzling read all romance readers will want to take a look at! Please help me welcome Jean Paradis! To help celebrate her debut release of Betty Being Bad she is giving away THREE ecopies of her book to three random winners! All the how-to's are just below(they're easy), but first, here is Ms. Paradis!

For me the best part of writing is getting the chance to be someone else for awhile. It’s like acting but without the paparazzi. And believe me you wouldn’t want to see my beach body plastered on the front of a tabloid while you’re standing in line at the grocery store (not unless you need some diet incentive.) The cool thing is I get to be both the man and the woman in my stories. Does this make me bi-sexual? Shhh…don't tell my husband.

No really, I enjoy being the hero. For years I was afraid to write from the male point of view because I thought I’d get it all wrong. Now I realize that men are just like us, but with penises. Okay, not really, but there are similarities. Such as, they like their penises and so do we. And isn’t romance really just a matter of how we get the key to fit into the lock? I always put the key in upside down first and then I have to turn it over. Maybe it’s good that I’m female. Then again, I guess that’s better than putting the key in the wrong door. Uh, honey?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun writing Betty Being Bad. I got to be Betty Walker, sexy, independent, antique store owner, and her reformed bad boy lover Carson Wells.  Now I have to admit, I’ve never been in prison. I couldn't steal a crumb without being overcome by severe guilt spasms, which reminds me, I really should pay back Plaid Pantry for the three penny candies I hid in my sock when I was six. Even so, it wasn’t hard for me to imagine being locked up. In a way we are all prisoners of our own fears, shames, and desires. To exist in polite society (put down the cell phone and ask yourself, is there really such a thing anymore?) we have to rein in and edit everything we say (unless our first name happens to be Snooki.)

Seriously, when Carson is released, so am I. When he corners Betty in her store and insists on making good on the fantasies they shared in the prison visitation room, I’m right there with him, feeling his pent up desires, emotions, and that oh so powerful need for release. And then I get to be Betty too, on the receiving end of all that lust. Whew, is it getting hot in here?

This is why it’s best to write erotica when alone, with the blinds closed. The ‘acting out being your characters’ thing can get a bit awkward to explain if you’re caught. Oh, is my face red? I hadn’t noticed. (If you’re over forty five you get to blame hot flashes.) It’s also why I prefer romance over other genres, horror for example. I don't want my hubby coming home to find me sharpening the kitchen knife with an evil gleam in my eye. I’m sure he too, would rather find me red faced and panting. And if he’s imagining me looking like Angelina Jolie, and I’m picturing Brad Pitt, so what? At least they’re married.

So, close the blinds, turn on the fan, and visit Betty and Carson at Red Sage Publishing.
Jean Paradis (It’s French and pronounced paradise.)

Betty Being Bad by Jean Paradis
“You can’t deny me this can you? This day I’ve waited so long for?”
She couldn’t. “We’ll close for lunch, a long lunch, but then I’m opening up again in the afternoon, okay?”
“Sure, a long lunch.”
The hungry look in his eyes made her knees go soft. Was she about to become lunch? Betty reached beneath the counter for the key to the front door. Carson took it from her hand and went to the door.
Betty stayed where she was, watching him turn the lock and flip the sign to ‘closed.’ When he turned back around she watched him approach, his expression serious, his intentions unmistakable.
“I’m going to have to change my clothes before we, uh, before we go for a walk.”
Carson walked around the counter and entered the small space on the employee side, blocking her in. “I don’t think you should change just yet.”
“Oh? Why is that?”
His gaze lowered to her cleavage, “I like this dress. I like it a lot.”
“Thank you.” Betty tried to sound casual but heard the slight tremor in her voice. She’d felt this way that day in the tree fort. He’d talked her into taking her shirt off during a game of strip poker. His hands were on her bare shoulders, lightly caressing them. His warm fingers trailed along the straps of her dress. They slipped down the satin, stopping to press both nipples with his thumbs hardening them instantly.
“How well I remember these,” he murmured.
She pushed his hands off her chest. “You must have a good memory because you haven’t seen them since I was thirteen.”
“A boy always remembers the first breasts he saw that weren’t in a magazine. They were so perfect, two firm little peaches.”
His hands were back, big hands, with long well -shaped fingers. Hot palms cupped her ‘peaches.’ She pushed them away. “You tricked me out of my shirt.”
“I did.” He grinned, “And if you remember right I tried many times to get you out of your pants too, but I never did succeed.”
“No, you didn’t.”
Carson moved closer, putting his hands on the counter on either side of her, trapping her in, “So many nights I lay in that damn bunk still smelling your hair.”
Heart pounding, Betty looked into his eyes. This was her chance to remind him that they were only friends. She’d have to do it fast and she’d have to be convincing. Carson was leaning toward her. His lips touched down on the indentation at the base of her throat. She knew he could feel her pulse there, racing. It was time to open her mouth, time to tell him… but already he was kissing his way up her throat, hot little kisses. He reached the sensitive spot just below her ear. “Carr?”
His mouth came down on hers and Betty felt the chance slip away.

Now, go ahead, enter the giveaway! Thanks for stopping in  and welcoming Ms. Paradis to Bookin' It Reviews! Good Luck & Happy Reading!

SUMMARY: (taken from the author's site)
Released from prison to find a murderer, a prison-hardened Varek Leale is convinced no woman deserves the man he's become, but his Aeveren destiny makes him succumb to sweet and sexy Callia Reynolds. To catch a murderer, he and Callia must find an Aeveren with the power to control time. But Amon Kalins isn't a man to trifle with, and when he wants something, he'll use his powers, devastating charm, and good looks to get it. When Amon manipulates time and seduces her away, Varek must turn to the people who set him free for help to get her back. But the Council doesn't do anything without requiring something in return, and what they want is Amon Kalins, one of the most powerful Aeveren ever. Varek will do what he must to capture Amon and find Callia. If he doesn't, she'll be lost to him for untold lifetimes.

TEASER:
Callia stared at the tempuster’s house. One light lit up a window on the far right side of the enormous home. The rest of the house was dark. A chill ran up her spine, and she took a deep breath. “Yes. Let’s go.”

FIRST LINE:
Nil. Aeveren prison and work camp. But for anyone who’d ever been sentenced to even a year in Nil, it was hell.

PLOT:
I found Stolen Destiny to be a whirlwind of a story, filled with unpredictable highs and lows. This book had me wanting to toss is aside one minute then just a quickly wanting nothing more than to flip the page to see what would happen next and loathing the moment I'd be interrupted by my daily activities. For a little less than the first half of the book I didn't understand the writer's style or why so much of the stories world building hadn't been revealed to me. Patience is a virtue as they say and when reading this book the more you wait the better it gets. The answers to all my questions concerning the plot and people in the book were slowly revealed to me as the story progressed making the read unique and a work of sheer brilliance, in my opinion. Instead of spelling everything out for the reader Ms. Bisset weaves in the delectable twists of her plot and time to which I had to pay close attention to in order to understand the world she has built for her Destined Ones Series. This lengthy novel takes reincarnation, a trinket of a fantasy we all have either thought about or entertained at one point or another in our lives, and created a race of people who live multiple lives based on this concept. Ms. Bisset delivered fantasy, crime, hot sizzling passion and a love triangle that had me cheering for both Varek and Amon. There are no spoilers here, but I will say Callia is one lucky heroine and the ending had me in tears of both sadness and joy!

SETTING:
New Hope, a town where gruesome murders bring together two destined Aeveren. An orphanage, where the last magic touch brings together a family. The Italian country side, where love is lost and gained. Nil, a prison where crimes are punished as the council sees fit.

WRITING:
Ms. Bisset's writing style is unique. At first I had a hard time accepting her rule breaking, but I quickly tossed that out the window when I saw and understood how it amplified the enjoyment of her book. She didn't weigh her story down with a lot of little details but more so brought to life a story by including everyone's thoughts and feelings for each moment of the story by...yes...using the dreaded head hopping! But don't shy away because of this...no. I promise, in this case it only makes for a better story!

CHARACTERS:
By the end I will admit to falling for both the 'good' guy and the 'bad' guy in the story. The good guy, Varek Leale, is introduced as a murdered, a hard fact to swallow at first, but the author had a plan for him and that plan was Callia. As the perfect Destined One for Varek, she helps him rebuild his soul after spending three lifetimes in prison and to also see the value in his life once again. Their journey is a very emotional one that I didn't want to accept at first. Varek grew on me though and proved how forgiveness works even in fiction. Varek's new found love and stablility was tested and put through the ringer on several occasions in Stolen Destiny to which Amon played in perfectly. As a tempuster,  Amon works his gift for time manipulation to his advantage, stealing away Callia from Varek. This results in her falling in love with Amon, a man determined to see her as his no matter the cost to anyone. These two men brought a grit to the story that gave it an edge, challenging me to see beyond the mistakes each had committed, beyond the pain they each had caused in their reincarnated lives and see deeper into the souls of two men that need saving. To give no more away, I will say this, Amon is a soul worth saving and I know it will be as adventurous as Varek and Callia's story.

LAST THOUGHTS:
This hidden gem of a book can be enjoyed by all adult readers. There is something in it for all whether you enjoy romance, fantasy, or a good mystery. I can't wait until the second book in the series this October! Ms. Bisset...keep them coming!

Bookin' It Reviews is very excited to have author Lucy Felthouse here to introduce us to her novella, Loose Ends! She has generously offered a giveaway to one person that leaves a comment. Check out below for how to enter! But now, here is Lucy....

Have you ever had one of those moments where something happens that makes you heart kind of jolt in your chest and you have no idea whether to run, hide or face whatever's made you feel that way?

I'm sure most people have. I sure have, and Lauren, the character in my recently released short story, Loose Ends, definitely has. She's the reluctant attendee of a University reunion, and suddenly she spots someone that gives her that jolt. She panics, has no idea how to react and eventually scurries away to the loo in order to hide for a little while and work out what on earth she's going to do. Who is this mysterious person that made her feel that way? you may ask. An ex? An enemy?

No... worse. Lauren's spotted... the one that got away. Worse than an ex, the one that got away is the one where you never had the chance to know whether it would work out or not. And that's why Lauren feels like the bottom has dropped out of her world. After a while, though, her friends make her go and talk to him – Jonathan – and it turns out that things are exactly as heart-jolting as Lauren first thought, but not in a bad way... you'll just have to read the story to find out if Lauren and Jonathan finally get it together or not!

THE CONTEST:
Lucy is giving away one e-copy of Loose Ends to one person that leaves a comment.
TO ENTER:
Make sure you follow Bookin' it Reviews with either the GFC button or NETWORKED BLOGS button located on the sidebar, leave a comment with a valid email address and name used to follow Bookin' It Reviews. When Jonathan and Lauren met at University, it should have been the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Sadly, it wasn’t to be, and Jonathan became ‘the one that got away.’ Years later, at a University reunion, Jonathan shows up unexpectedly throwing Lauren into turmoil. The pair start talking, and soon all the old feelings come back. But will this time be different, or will their mutual affection continue to be unrequited?

Excerpt:
When Kat had called to tell me about the five-year University reunion, my reaction had been, “So?”
“Whaddya mean, so? You have to come! It’ll be a laugh. We’ll be able to find out how everyone’s getting on, what they’ve done with their lives and stuff.”
“Why do you want to know how everyone’s getting on? You’ve never bothered before and nor have I. I’ve only ever kept in touch with you and Alex, and there’s a bloody good reason for that.”
“Stop being such a stick in the mud! Come on, not everyone was that bad. There might be some interesting stories to hear. Somebody could be rich or famous. Or both!”
I stopped resisting. When Kat had a plan, it was futile to object.
So there I was with Kat and Alex, heading into the Student Union bar. I pushed open the double doors. It was as if we’d walked into some kind of time warp. The bar itself looked almost the same, a lick of paint here and there, but nothing major. As for the people, they seemed to have changed even less. Sure, they were better dressed (well, some of them were) and a little older, but everyone was the same.
The loner was still loitering at the very end of the bar, not engaging with anyone. The geeks had gravitated toward one another. The popular kids were strutting their stuff, their conversation no doubt as mindless and dull as it had always been. Kat, Alex and I were still hanging around together.
Nobody seemed to have brought partners. I hadn’t actually seen any information regarding the event. My intel had all come from Kat, so maybe partners weren’t invited. Or perhaps everyone just wanted to come alone and re-enact their young, free and single days.
Either way, it was going to be a looong night. I headed for the bar with Kat and Alex close behind.
“What’ll it be?” asked the barman, who looked to be a current student earning some extra cash. I suddenly felt old, despite not looking that much older than him.
“Make mine a vodka and Coke, no ice, please.”
As I turned to the girls to find out what they wanted, I saw the class busybody walking toward us. She smiled and waved.
“Better make that a double,” I amended. Then under my breath, “I think I’m gonna need it.”
Soon I remembered why I hadn’t been up for this in the first place. The busybody was driving me up the wall. My face and neck hurt from all the smiling and nodding. Jenny, or whatever her name was, was currently on maternity leave from her (wonderful) job. Her “perfect” husband had stayed home to look after their “delightful” children so she could come to the reunion and see how everyone was getting on. Despite this statement, she hadn’t asked any of us a single question. She was too busy talking about herself.

Candid Interview with Nick and Sondra from The Boss's Pet by Tonya Kinzer

BIR is proud to introduce author Tonya Kinzer! She's here today with Nick and Sondra, the two main characters from her erotic romance series, The Boss's Pet. Ms. Kinzer is offering an awesome giveaway so keep an eye out for how to enter right below this interview!

Wanna Hint...?
amazon2
So, grab something to drink, preferably a cold 'something' and let's get started!

First I’d like to thank Bookin’ It Reviews for letting me blog with you for a few days! Thank you for stopping by to meet Nick and Sondra, the main characters in my series, The Boss’s Pet. He's handsome, a proper gentleman and his eyes will undress you before you even know it!  Psst...I'm not sure I could work in the same office with a man this handsome! Sondra is a beautiful distraction to any office and smart enough to run things. So, let’s get things started.

Tonya:  Nick, Sondra, thank you so much for being with us today. I’ll start with Nick - I know you're a workaholic but that really isn't good for a man to lock himself away like that. You poor thing, you need down time to stay balanced!

Nick:  *loosening his tie* My firm is growing by leaps and bounds. Although that's a good thing, it makes for too many hours hunched over my desk at the computer. I have to stay up on the market changes because my clients depend on me to know what's happening in case they want to change their investment strategies. In turn, that takes away from my time at home and unfortunately, makes for an unhappy wife at home, which is why I no longer have one. I can't blame her; I work horrendous hours.

Tonya:  So what does a busy man do for down time when you DO take it?

Nick:  I enjoy being at home where it's quiet. My property is surrounded by woods and only the driveway is visible from the highway. It's peaceful out on my back patio by the pool and hot tub; it's a great place for entertaining, I'm just not there enough to do that. I do think I’ve found a woman who can make it more fun to be at home and share the luxuries with.

Tonya:  I bet you have muscles knotted all over you then. I know someone who could help you with that! *wink* Finding good office help can't be easy but I understand you've recently hired an office manager, correct?

Nick: *giving me a huge sexy smile* I have. Sondra Prentice is more than qualified to run my office while I take care of business. She did bring a substantial book of business with her. Those clients didn't want to stay with the new owner of her prior firm so needless to say, I was happy to help her with that. Her husband also didn't like the long hours our profession requires and he found someone else to occupy his time with. I think Sondra will fit in well with her management skills and she's already helping to encourage the sales staff I have, not to mention her marketing ideas. I've just not had time to do that myself and to pay someone to do that as an outside source is very expensive. Perhaps now I can redirect my funds to help with inside sales, we'll see.

Tonya:  Sondra, I know you and Nick are busy; it has to be hard to keep you mind on your job. What is it about Nick that draws you to him?

Sondra:  I'm not sure I can put a finger on just what it is that pulls me toward this sexy man. *she looks Nick in the eye, runs her hand down his thigh and squeezes his knee* I know he has a magnetism that attracts all women and when he looks at you with those sexy blues of his, it's as though he can read your mind and implant thoughts into your brain of what he wants from you!

Tonya:  I'm not sure how you pull it off having a boss with sexy eyes like Nick has. Is it hard to work and concentrate in the same office with a man who tugs at your wants and needs?

Sondra:  If we're working on a client portfolio, it's all business for both of us. We want to make sure we get the investment recommendations right for that client. We look at the amount of money being invested, what their goals are and the portfolio has to match what the client goals are for their future and the number of years they have to go to meet that goal. When it's time for us to relax, it's only after the research is done.

Tonya:  Nick, is it a bad thing for a woman to be beautiful and smart?

Nick:  Not at all! I find that very attractive and especially if she knows what she wants out of life. Sondra does and she doesn't take shit from any man from what I've seen. So I find her a huge challenge. In the beginning, she refused to go out with me very often and I needed to find a way to break through her walls because she had them pretty high.

Tonya: I sense that you understand the normal wants and needs of a woman but I think you go much deeper than that. Care to explain further for our curious minds out there?

Nick:  Not at all. I enjoy a life style that I don't share with many people, but since I find you so appealing, I'll share a bit with you *he winks*...if you keep it to yourself. It's a challenge for me to make a woman realize that once she trusts me, she can learn that I know what's best for her in certain situations....meaning...you have to let go of wanting to control when and where you receive certain pleasure. When you don't have to worry over that and just relax your 'mind' to accept pleasure and submit to what is being done to you, it becomes quite satisfying.

Tonya:  I'm guessing not just any woman off the street would appeal to you for this type of fun.

Nick:  No. A strong, secure woman knows in her heart where she stands in life and has a good self-esteem. Being able to submit to someone else and allow them to be in charge takes a lot of control within the mind. One can submit without being a slave to another and feeling beat down, because if one doesn't have a strong self-esteem, this type of life style is all wrong for them, although it can be taught, but that road takes a bit longer. I don't have that kind of time.

Tonya:  *squirming in my seat as my thoughts begin to wrap around exactly what he's referring to*  So I'm guessing you enjoy being in charge and helping others learn what's best for them?

Nick:  My life style has never come into the office nor does anyone there know I live a different way in some aspects of my life, but that may be changing. Sondra has a sexual attraction that I can't seem to ignore. *Nick eyes me intently* I also think you'd be great at turning your control over to me, what do say?

Tonya:  Me? Oh no, I don't think I could ever do that. I like being in control.

Nick:  Well, in a way you would be. We'd agree to let you control, to a point, how far I could go with you.

Tonya:  *squirming in my seat again* Umm, let’s move on, shall we? Sondra, has anything surprised you about entering into the lifestyle that Nick has introduced you to?

Sondra:  I think that would have to be the way your thought process changes when you're in the submissive mode. Both parties have to agree beforehand what can and can't be done. It saves a lot of misunderstanding and hurt feelings. As a Dom, Nick seems to know exactly what I want and need; His patience and control are above anyone I've ever met. I'm not sure how he does that, but I love his thought process.

Tonya:  You enjoy the blindfold and restraints. Doesn't that require a lot of trust between two people?

Sondra:  Yes, it does. I totally trust Nick not to hurt me or do something that I've not agreed to ahead of time. Not being able to anticipate what he is going to do to tease and torment me just adds to the excitement.

Tonya:  The two of you are becoming closer and I would guess the feelings you have for one another are building. What's in the future for you two.

Sondra:  I can't speak for Nick, but yes, I'm falling in love with the man. He's in my thoughts constantly, I find myself doing things that will please him and when I'm not with him, I want to be. If our readers would care to read Chapter One of each book out so far, they can click HERE.

Tonya:  Great idea but…readers DO come back and finish reading here, please! LOL Sondra, have you ever thought about being the Dominant at all and could you do that?

Sondra: *wicked laugh* I can't answer that without spoiling the next book....but, yes, the thought has entered my mind quite bit lately!

Tonya:  Readers, there you have it - if we read between the lines, I think that tells us what’s coming up in book four. I don’t have a release date for you yet so keep my website and blog bookmarked so you can be one of the first to know when book four comes out!

CONTEST - all who comment and leave their email addy in the comment, will be entered into the drawing I do on Saturday, Sept 3rd to win a $20 gift card to Amazon, B & N, or All Romance eBooks!

And since it is Friday that means it's time for yet another installment of Book Flick Reading! As always, please remember you are welcome to share your link below in the comment section if you have a blog reading of your own. My book flick reading is just for fun and now with a twist including my thoughts on either the author's writing style, the plot, or characters from the snippet I read from. For those that are new to the blog, the idea behind my BFR is to share a small snippet from a book I am reading or want to share here with you. i hope you enjoy my videos!

This week's choice is from a book I consider a treat. While I am not a huge fantasy reader when I found out that the author had spent a decade perfecting the world for his Elenchera series I knew there was going to be something special about the book and the series that I had to accept it for review for Night Owl Reviews. What book and what author you say? I am glad you asked! Debut Fantasy author David M. Brown has only just released Fezariu's Epiphany ~ Book One of The Elenchera Series and has already received high reviews from readers.
I hope you take a minute and enjoy discovering a new author with my video just below. All the necessary links are just below the video for easy reference.
Enjoy!

The White Oak, Clarendon's oldest brothel, lured and destroyed men by the thousands. Fezariu was different. He had never been drawn by the White Oak's vices but the brothel had still ruined him when he was just a boy. Salvation came in the form of the Merelax Mercenaries - Elenchera's most prestigious hired hands. They gave Fezariu the chance to escape from his past. Immersed in the world of dangerous assignments in the colonies Fezariu longed to forget everything about his childhood but only in facing the past would he ever be free of it.

This weeks questions for Parajunkee's:
Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

A. Werewolf! HOOOOOOOWWWWLLLLLLLLL!!!
I write paranormal romance and my preference is the shapeshifter. Now I LOVE vampires but if I had to choose one, that's my choice. Now if you allowed me two...then vampires would be my second! Who doesn't love the the two creatures TOGETHER! ;-)

How about you? Leave me a comment and I'll be sure to stop by your FF!
