With autumn NOT in the air for me here in sunny Puerto Vallarta I am all to glad for the weekend to be here. It means so beach time and the fresh breeze it brings! How do you plan to spend your weekend?

This week's choice is Caressed By Moonlight by Amanda J. Greene! Her debut paranormal romance book has received several reviews ranging from low to high and everywhere in between. Ms. Greene was presented to me by Bewitching Blog Tours for a tour spot and I accepted the book for review. I am very excited to read this book and from what I read here today for my snippet I believe it will be a well written and exciting vampire read. Milo raised his hand in a gentle gesture to let Liam know they’d reached the hotel. The driver took them around to the back entrance. From there it was a short underground walk to an area off the hotel’s kitchen where they took the elevator up to the suite. 

As the doors closed, Milo pushed Liam against the mirrored walls. “I’ve had a hard-on for six years waiting for you, love,” he said as he ground their groins together. “Feel me.” 

Liam placed wet kisses behind Milo’s ear and nipped at his earlobe. “I want you. I need you.” 

Milo crushed Liam against him. “I need you too, baby.” 

The elevator pinged for their floor. Milo picked Liam up in his arms, kissing him with a passion born of desperation. He fumbled for the key to the suite and, after unlocking the door, he kicked it open, carrying Liam through the suite and straight to a magnificent master bedroom with its huge canopy bed. Milo laid Liam down on the bed gently. A bottle of Dom Perignon sat cooling in a silver bucket at the bedside. The gold brocade duvet cover was strewn with rose petals. 

With shaking hands, Milo began to undress his lover. Liam responded with a torrent of kisses, his hands moving under Milo’s shirt to get at the golden skin he’d craved for so long. 

“Slow down, baby,” Milo whispered. “We have all night.” 

“I’m so afraid that this is all a dream. I’ve pictured this so many times in my mind, I don’t want to wake up and find I’m alone again.” 

“I promise you, you will never be alone again so long as I live.” Milo pulled off Liam’s silk peasant shirt, kissing every inch of the porcelain white skin he exposed. He sat up, pulled off his own shirt, and shucked his pants, leaving them pooled on the floor. Liam lifted his ass to make it easier for Milo to gain access to his throbbing cock, drenched with pre-cum. 

Milo gasped as Liam’s soft mouth explored his chest and landed on a flat golden nipple.

Placing his fingers on the side of her neck, he searched for a pulse, relieved to find it strong and steady. He hooked his finger under her chin to draw her face up. Covered with dirt and grime, she didn’t rouse, her long, brown hair knotted and straggly. His heart bled for her. 

“Go check those rooms for other victims,” he said to the deputies. “Get the paramedics and the crime scene folks here, and bring me a blanket when they come.”

FIRST LINE:

Wyatt Tanning stared at the paperwork on his desk. He read over his notes for the hundredth time, clenching his jaw in frustration. Ten days and counting, and the shady criminal who stared back at him from the mug shot remained on the run.

PLOT:

After picking up Somewhere In Between, a sexy and delicious read,  I couldn't put the novella down. Sure, this scrumptious menage was short and didn't take more than thirty minutes to read, however phones went unanswered and the laundry was left for afterwards. I simply had to find out the mystery behind Madame Eve's phone call to Wyatt and I also wanted to know how Darby would find a happy ending after going through the torture of being kidnapped and beaten. In so little space, the author spun a story of pain, suffering and loneliness only to have that melt away into something heart warming and of course sizzling. She wrote an intriguing mini love story with very well placed plot developments and intriguing dialogue between the three main characters, Wyatt, Rye, and Darby. 

SETTING:

Somewhere In Between takes place in an Urban setting. 

WRITING:

Stacey Kennedy has come into her own style of writing and has developed into a wonderful author. I love how her ability to entwine a story around me heart through her characters alone. Add to that the engrossing plot and I'm there. It is that very writing trait that has endeared me to her books. I also note her attention to details and her ability to offer works - either indie published or traditional published - with proper grammar and editing.

CHARACTERS:

Wyatt Tanning, U.S. Marshall, and Rye Daniels, UFC fighter, are the two main characters from a previous 1NS novella by Stacey Kennedy titled Takedown. While I did not read that novella, I had no problem with discovering what kind of characters both men were in this book. I love a man with such inner strength and know-how when it comes to being gentle with a woman. Both Wyatt and Rye delivered in both areas when Darby enters the picture. And I loved Rye's witty sense of humor that lightened up the story at just the right moments.

Kidnapped and beaten Darby had some pretty bad odds to beat that took just as much inner strength as what Wyatt and Rye show. I love it when a woman is portrayed as being strong enough to lift herself back up but not afraid to ask for comforting and help when she needs it. Darby won me over with her kind heart and strength. I wonder what kind of characters will be shown to us in the next One Night Stand novella...

LAST THOUGHTS:

An absolutely MUST-READ for this genre! Stacey Kennedy has written a novella that spoke of determination and the power of friendship and love. A great combination. I loved the fluidity of the writing and story and hope to maybe see these characters again in the future. I can hope, right! Keep them coming Ms. Kennedy!

She never imagines there’d be an actual murderer on the loose at her restaurant in rural Dry Creek, Nebraska. But when she discovers a customer dead in a dumpster, the killer demands she find the victim’s phone and flash drive or face fatal consequences.

Jake Warrick, a cocky and mind-numbingly hot private investigator, becomes Claire’s unlikely ally in the search. Jake just wants to solve the case and get out of this hick town, but the diminutive and curvaceous Claire turns his plan upside down as they uncover a more complex crime than they ever imagined. The two bicker and banter like Tracy and Hepburn caught in a whirlwind of intense sexual attraction as they try to find the killer before it’s too late.  

TEASER:

Claire laid the gun down on the bar and sank onto a stool. Her stomach twisted and cramped. She laid her head down on the dark wood. The cool surface calmed her riotous nerves, gave her a chance to think for a moment. She’d made the right move. Really, she never had another choice.

Sirens cried in the distance. With a relieved sigh, she slid off the stool. Her knees shook a bit, but she maintained her somewhat wobbly stance. She’d always heard it seemed like forever for law enforcement to respond. Now she understood what they meant.

FIRST LINE:

Claire Layton readied herself to placate a dragon.

PLOT:

Temptation Creek starts off with an energy that just doesn't let up until the end. I usually do not read romantic suspense because of the slower pace I normally find, however that is not the case with this book or this author. She knows how to deliver a suspenseful  plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat, mixed with a romance that is just as powerful. I thought both the romantic and suspenseful aspects were well balanced and woven together to create a well balanced story. The plot twists kept coming, and had me guessing throughout the entire book. I loved the quick succession of events and the hot romance between Claire and Jake, the two main characters. The author wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty with the secondary characters and made the villain as nasty as they come which only added grit and depth to the book. Ms. Flynn didn't let me down at the end either. Her twists and turns lead to a powerful ending and wrapped up with a happy ending. She also left an awesome clue as to what the next Dry Creek Book will entail. All together, this book has lead me to find an author that I just have to add to my MUST-READ list.

SETTING:

Temptation Creek takes place in  Dry Creek, Nebraska where treachery and love are pushed beyond all boundaries and possible new beginnings are born.

WRITING:

Ms. Flynn's knows how to write with wild fire!  She can bend it to do her will and create an amazing ride for all to enjoy! She writes amazing characters and I love her ability to never have a dull moment in her books. 

CHARACTERS:

Claire Layton is one spunky and sassy lady that knows how to keep herself in troubles way at all times. She also knows how to dish out the whoop-ass when needed. I loved her tender heart and enjoyed watching her learn to trust and love again. It is that very thing that has me hooked on the romance genre in the first place. This is one heroine I'd love to call my best friend because she would go to the ends of the world to help those around her. I thought Jake the perfect man to pull her out of her fear of loving again and into a world only lived by those in love. His iron clad determination proved he was willing to fight for her even when he tried to convince himself he only wanted a one night love affair; get the job done and go home kind of deal with Claire. Later in the book his inner struggle to come to terms with his weaknesses where Claire is concerned also warmed my heart up to him because I got to see behind the curtain so to speak. The secondary characters and villain were just as interesting but I will run into giving out spoilers if I continue. I'll leave you to discover who exactly is behind the mystery. 

Very well developed characters all around and I am looking forward to the next in the series!

LAST THOUGHTS:

If you love a great romantic suspense, Temptation Creek is for you! Ms. Flynn delivers in all aspects and ends with an enticing hook for the next in the series! Until then, I have already added all of her books to my must-have list to tie me over!

WHO IS AUTHOR AVERY FLYNN:

The name Avery Flynn is a pseudonym for the author who, at least for now, prefers to remain behind the scenes.  She believes having Avery as her alter ego is a very good thing because, as she says, “Pen name Avery is way cooler than me. Her favorite color is hot pink. She drinks single malt scotch on the rocks. She loves the Argentinean tango and stays at Iceland’s Ice Hotel.”

Author Avery has been writing since she was a child and her father gave her a baby blue Brother typewriter. She couldn’t read but nonetheless wrote numerous stories about her stuffed animals in gibberish. She hasn’t stopped since, though she maintains that her spelling has gotten much better and she now prefers to write in English.

Today she’s enjoying her own happily ever after with her dashing husband, three crazy kids and two arthritic dogs.  She dreams of one day having a floor-to-ceiling library à la Beauty and the Beast and is working to perfect the coffee IV drip. You can visit her at :

     Since I love the Dom/sub, soft bondage and BDSM erotica, I think that is perfect to discuss here today! Those topics appeal to readers because first, they are taboo and people love to read what shouldn't be written. Better yet is the internal ecstasy the reader gets while they read those forbidden words that create even more forbidden thoughts! No it’s not a sin to feel that way, so stop it! (it is a sin to force those feelings on someone who doesn’t share that with you) It’s a beautiful feeling that can be satisfied by touching another individual, feeling the moisture on their skin, the increased heart rate, the darkening of their eyes as their pupils enlarge with the intense feelings and the smell that emanates from the body! Now where did I put that ice bag?

     Do you fall into that category? I sure hope so. Sneaking to read some of our books is part of the fun, not to mention the internal upheaval that goes on while we read. Our imaginations create vivid images of naked bodies; of women restrained while others torture their sexual needs and take them to the brink of orgasm! Oops, can I say that here? Too late now…it’s out, so let’s discuss that, too!

     First, I’m going back to the images that reading creates in our mind as well as our own growing need to have sex while we read or immediately afterward. The body heat intensifies, our juices begin to flow, some a bit more than others, we start to fidget in our chair or on the bed. This brings us to the one-handed readers and we know what they do! *wink*  mmmm….damn! Perhaps more of you are one-handed readers than we know about! As authors, we LOVE that group!

     Now let’s move on to what some like to read about. Our mind goes crazy at the thought of a naked woman…or man…being tied to a table or a bed or over the horse as her Dom slowly touches her body everywhere. She’s forbidden to speak or whimper a sound. His touch is light, teasing, tormenting, making her want that powerful release that explodes in her body, heats and satisfies, yet creates an even stronger need for more. He caresses her skin with oil, massaging her breasts, her thighs and….yep he goes there too, only to feel how much of her juices have seeped for him.

     Do I have your attention yet? Take those feelings and put them to work in your own relationship and make your partner feel as though they are the only one in your universe. Some of us have lost that spark but it can be relit. You have the power to create those same sensations in their body. Pay attention to what touch makes them crazy and where that area is because it’s different for each one of us. As their excitement increase, so will yours…because you know you have created a need in them that has to be completed and only YOU can do that. Go for it! Give your partner the pleasure they deserve and in turn, you receive more pleasure, I promise you! Maybe they secretly want the same thing but have been afraid to let you know. Break the ice…you may be pleasantly surprised!

This week's choice is from Love Bleeds by Maggie James. Today I had the wonderful surprise of having a print copy of Love Bleeds delivered to me by the amazing Carla Gallway of Book Monster Reviews. If you haven't checked her site out you are missing a wonderful place she has created for readers. :-) 

Love Bleeds is the debut release for Maggie James. Since I have not read this book we will be discovering a new author together with this book. After reading the blurb and snippetI was intrigued and curious as to how the rest of the book would read. I also loved the cover which was definitely eye catching! I have a date set to finish it this weekend. If you have read this book I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section. FAVORITE LINE:

     He licked the blood but it wasn't enough. It has to be her blood. Only that would satisfy his craving. The voice at the back of his mind, deep in his heart, commanded him to bite her.

     She lowered the glass from her lips and looked at him with beautiful round eyes, tempting him with her innocence.

PLOT:

Forbidden Blood is a gripping, dark and sexy ride! 

From the first sentence to the last I felt so intertwined with the characters and the story that I had to read it in one sitting - unable to break away. The entire story took me through every emotion there is and I loved it. Betrayal and revenge tainted the very bonds holding together the society of Vampire Nobles and the lesser Nobles. Humans nothing more than pests to their upper breeding. That is, until one very human Source Blood female steals the heart of her Noble Venator. His tale is heart wrenching at best and will take your breathe away with the power a forbidden love does to heal the wounds he's sustained from his own kin. The author has brought together two unlikely people, one human with forbidden blood coursing through her veins and a Venator vampire burdened with the task of killing those of his kind that sample her blood type. You couldn't pick any two people more wrong for each other than Kearn and Amber, yet the author is great at breaking the rules, making you want what isn't suppose to be! By the end of the book, every aspect of the story comes full circle with a battle that left me with a tear in my eye and a glimmer of hope for love being eternal no matter where it leads. And I can only hope the tortured soul that is unmasked will be redeemed in a future installment. Thought you would get a clue as to who the bad guy is didn't you!  

The author did a great job wrapping up all the loose ends with a hint of who might be the main character in her next Venator installment. I can't wait!

SETTING:

Forbidden Blood takes place in modern day London where you will get a taste of what it is like to live behind the walls of palatial vampire estates and see the inner workings of their society. The sense of old world society at its finest!

WRITING:

Ever the talented author, Felicity Heaton has maintained her books as Must-Reads and always at the top of my reading list. Her fluidity with words reals me in and her insight into her characters satisfies my thirst for a good story to fall in love with. And her attention to detail is what delivers the richness to all her stories. I must also add that her ability to deliver well formatted and grammatically correct works never fails. 

CHARACTERS:

Kearn is a tortured man, an outcast from vampire society, dealt a life of loneliness void of any love and happiness. Amber is a human, nothing more than a source of temptation and food for vampires. Because of her blood she is thrust into a world that tests her ability to have strength beyond those that are considered her superior in every way. 

From the beginning of the book Kearn's torturous life is shown through the hurtful actions of his kind. I couldn't help but feel the dullness filling his heart, as if every emotion had been drained from his soul. At first there is only the pain of rejection from his Noble family and the society he grew up in. As the story progressed and Amber slowly opens Kearn's heart, you are treated to the rush of life and love flooding into his life. I found her strength to be the backbone of the book which tied everything together by the end. Amber might be considered the weakest of creatures, but to me she was the strongest of them all!  

  

LAST THOUGHTS:

Felicity Heaton has created a story paranormal romance that will spellbind your heart and imagination with the power of betrayal, revenge, love and possible forgiveness. In fact, I find this story worthy of  re-reading! Forbidden Blood is that good!
