Guest Author & Giveaway With Author Katie Reus

Bookin' It Reviews extends a warm welcome to author Katie Reus who is here to celebrate the release of her book, Alpha Instinct! I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing this book and I must say you are all in for a real treat! And in true celebration form Ms. Reus is offering up a giveaway with all the How-to's below.

Welcome Ms. Reus!

Thank you Talina for letting me hang out here today!

One more day until Valentine’s Day! I’m not a big V-day person, though my husband and I do always celebrate. We cook surf and turf, share a bottle of wine and…usually watch one of the Underworld movies. He gets to watch a hot woman in leather run around kicking ass and I get all sorts of vampire and lycan goodness. My favorite out of the bunch is…can you guess? Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. If you haven’t seen these movies, I’m about to drop a spoiler so don’t read on!

I hate how that movie ends and every time I watch it I imagine that Sonja does NOT die or that she magically rises from the ashes and comes back to life for sexy lycan Lucian. Sigh. It sadly never happens. I’m such a sucker for fated love stories (and a vamp and lycan from warring lines finding love means bad things are likely to happen for all parties involved).

I’m also a sucker for second chance stories. In fact, it’s one of my favorite themes in romance! It doesn’t matter the genre, when two couples who were torn apart before get another chance a love, I’m sold! What kept them from making it work the first time? Was it timing? Was it families that ripped them apart? Or was it something far more sinister? If you’ve read any of my books then you’ll know I’m a fan of reunited lovers so these are all questions I get to ask when plotting out a second chances story.

In Alpha Instinct, Ana and Connor are the two main characters and they fall into the second chances category. They weren’t lovers before, but they were pretty damn close. But, something tore them apart. Only Ana doesn’t know what. She thinks Connor just left her. And now he’s back looking to help out her pack and she has nothing but mistrust for the sexy wolf. Well, mistrust and lust. Lots of lust going on!

Do you like second chances stories? Or, what’s your favorite themed story in romance? One reader who comments on the blog today will be randomly selected to win a print copy of Alpha Instinct (US eligible only). Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

Alpha Instinct official blurb:

Fear has a scent. So does desire…

Ana Cordona has been a strong leader for the lupine shifters who survived after all the males and most of the females in her pack were mysteriously poisoned. As tough as she is, with no Alpha male, the pack is vulnerable to the devious shifter Taggart, who wants to claim both their ranch and Ana as his own. When Connor Armstrong comes back into her life, promising protection, it’s almost enough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before—and reluctantly accept his offer to mate.

The minute Connor sees Ana again, it reawakens a raw hunger. He must have her for his bondmate—his wolf cries out for it. But his human side knows he must proceed with caution because of their complicated past. If he is to truly have her body and soul, he must go beyond his burning desire and win back her heart. Whatever it takes, he is determined not to leave her side again.

But Taggart and his rival pack are not their only enemies. A human element in town is targeting shifters. Their plan not only threatens Ana and Connor’s future, but the lives of the entire pack…

  7. I agree with Proud & Katie. Second chances are definitely needed in a lot of cases. I don't really have a favorite theme in a story, as long as its good, I'm game!
Katie, Underworld is our (my husband. & I) first date movie! The second one. Love it!! I can't wait to read this story! :)

  8. I like second chance at love stories. Sometimes things happen, and people make mistakes and don't necessarily get it right the first time. And I love paranormals!

  10. I wouldn't have thought of one of the Underworld movies as appropriate for V-Day, but your explanation makes sense.  How many movies provide eye candy for both sexes?
