Back of the Book:
The vampire drug, brew, nearly ruined Gwen Sparks’ life. Just when things started to get back to normal between her and Aiden, she is summoned by the North American Witches Council to their central city of Moon. A war is imminent between vampires and witches, and Gwen’s experiences with brew are being used to fuel the fire. She is about to discover just how powerful she is with the help of the ruggedly handsome Angel of Death and just how far some people will go to get what they want. Gwen is going to learn exactly what it means to be Deceived.

First Line:
“What are we doing in a graveyard?” I eyed Kye with uncertainty as we wound through the headstones.

Teaser:
That was easier said than done. The death within the blood was overwhelming. Whoever the blood belonged to, they had killed a lot of people. Instinct took over, and something inside of me commanded I take control of the ghosts. My body stopped quivering, a peaceful calm replaced the confusion. When I opened my eyes, a large cloud of gray hovered just behind Dorian’s back. The cloud separated and formed what looked like human shapes. It took less than three minutes for the fog to completely separate. At
least fifteen spirits stood in my room, their bodies shimmering like a heat mirage.
Dorian turned to see what I called forth from the blood. “Good job. I’ve never seen a newbie pull that many ghosts at once.”

Plot & Characters:
An excellent continuation of the Gwen Sparks series! The plot is as unique as the first book in the series and delivered in a wonderful first person point of view.

The twists and turns in this story are just...shocking! I loved how the author upped the ante with each new chapter. Threw Gwen into situations that made you laugh one minute, cringe the next and send goosebumps crawling along your skin from some truly hair raising moments.

The story starts out where the last one ends, with an impending war between the vampires and witches. Gwen and her best friend answer the Witches Council to travel to Moon where they can train for battle. Only Gwen doesn't take lightly to the fact that the head council will not tell her why she is so sought after for this war and why they've brought in Dorian, a special trainer just for her. A trainer that excites her more than he should. There's some interesting tension for you!

To top it off the council demands that she stop seeing her vampire boyfriend. Something she isn't ready to do...for anyone. And especially not for the sadistic vampire she is bonded to and that holds secret plans of his own for her.

Through several twists and turns the author delivers a suspenseful mystery to unravel along with some sexual tension that makes Gwen question herself. We get a deeper look into the world of Gwen and her past that gives us a better understanding of who she is-a warm and caring woman that only wants peace. To bad fate has other plans for this Spirit Walker. We are taken along side Gwen as she discovers new powers she holds and finally at the end thrown into a battle of life or death where no one is as they seem. Like I said before, the mystery to solve in this book is as exciting and captivating as the romance between Gwen and her vampire lover, Aiden. Throw into the mix the vampire that can telepathically communicate with her and enter her dreams and Dorian a mystery all on his own and you have one heck of a book! And the ending...love it! You'll never see it coming and I'm not sure which way I hope Gwen goes. Both options are equally exciting!

Writing:
As I mentioned in my review for book one of the Gwen Sparks series the author tells a fabulous and unique story that really does stand out. I love her ability to make you see the entire world of her characters while writing in first person. The only draw back to this book is the author's need of an editor. Ms. Nelson has improved compared to her first book, yet the mistakes are there and can easily be corrected.

Summary:
This book and series are one that I am very excited about. I'm anxious to see what happens next with Gwen Sparks and if I remember correctly the third books is already due out this year. The wait won't be long! Readers of both Paranormal romance and Urban fantasy will love this series!
