Recently I discovered a new-to-me-author that after one book landed on my mu-buy list and guess what? She's here with us today for a sit down and a giveaway in celebration of her newest Carina Press release, A Fine Romance! Please help me welcome the fabulous and wickedly talented Christi Barth to BIR! Below our interview you'll find all the book details and the how-tos for the giveaway. Enjoy!
Let's get started!
Talina: Welcome, Ms. Barth! It’s so wonderful to have you stop in on Bookin’ It Reviews today! Thank you so much for taking the time to be here. Before we get started talking about your romantic new release, A Fine Romance, let’s talk a bit about you! For those of us just meeting you, can you share a little bit about what makes your writing unique?
Christi: Is there any way to answer this question without sounding pretentiously egotistical? Um, my characters are pretty darn sassy. Lots of humor, and the settings (in this case, Chicago) are almost a secondary character.
Talina: Almost every writer and reader likes to know this one when they pick up a new book or series, what inspired you in writing your Aisle Bound Series?
Christi: 9 out of 10 people who learned I was a wedding planner would say you should write a book! Then they’d launch into elaborate eye winks about bridezillas, and mother of the bride horror stories.

Except, in my experience, 90% of weddings are wonderful. They’re a celebration of friends and family and enduring love. Most people do pull it together and behave like grown-ups. So I didn’t want to write a scathing tell-all. But a series that focuses on the wedding industry, showcasing people who spend every day creating the perfect happily ever after? That felt like a good place to start. And maybe a few crazy hijinks did slip into my manuscripts. They are comedies, after all! You’ll have to guess which ones are real and which ones are just figments of my imagination…..
Talina: How fun! lol Now that we’ve had a little behind the scenes peek at your series, what’s a typical writing day like for you? Do you indulge in every single day that would surprise your readers?
Christi: Unfortunately, it entails getting up and going to my day job at a college. Yes-the ugly secret of writers is revealed-many of us still keep our noses to the office grindstone (although I do get four weeks paid vacation, so I don’t complain too loudly). After years as an actress, my creative juices kick into high gear after 6 pm. I do my plotting during the day – well, whenever the ideas strike, which is often either when I’m at the gym or the symphony, oddly enough. But the bulk of my writing takes place between sunset and midnight. On my couch.
Talina: A night owl! I can relate. :) So what's your all-time favorite romantic movie? Is there a movie that has inspired one of your stories?
Christi: Love Actually. No, Bringing Up Baby – or Notting Hill. Ack – don’t make me chose! No movie inspirations….yet…..
Talina: This leads me to Sam Lyons, the hero in A Fine Romance. Can you share a bit about him and why he’s perfect for Mira Parrish?
Christi: You sound like my critique partners “Why is Sam both the best and the worst thing possible that could happen to Mira?” The hardest question to answer when plotting a book, but the most integral. Sam’s bone-deep commitment to family will prove both a hindrance and exactly what Mira is looking for in a life-partner. Whether she realizes it or not. The sexy abs don’t hurt, either.
Talina: Ahhh...as a reader discovering what makes a character tick is one of the best experiences when reading a story. Was Mira Parrish an easy heroine to write and eventually bring together with Sam Lyons?
|Book Two - Just released!|
Christi: Not at all. She was my most difficult heroine to write. She’s…prickly. Guarded. So busy trying to make everything run smoothly that she forgets to slow down and appreciate the moment…or the hot man standing right in front of her.
Talina: What is it about contemporary romance that you find so magical?
Christi: The reality of it. That you can see a happily ever after unfolding in real life, that is attainable.
Talina: Since A Fine Romance is the second release in your four book Aisle Bound series, can you give us a quick peek at the first in the series, Planning For Love. Is each installment a standalone and can be read out of order?
Christi: Let me assure readers out there – I worked VERY hard to make certain that A Fine Romance could be read as a stand-alone. I promise. That being said, of course I’d love to entice you to read the series in order. Here’s the tagline for Planning for Love: In the harsh spotlight of reality television, a romance-a-holic wedding planner tries to snare the anti-Cupid.
Talina: I love it! So, what’s next for Christi Barth? Any special news or upcoming events you’d like to fill readers in on?
Christi: Lots upcoming! In July, I’m releasing a funny, sassy beach-fling caper called Love at High Tide. Then book 3 in the Aisle Bound series releases in September, with book 4 following in November. Whew!
Talina: WOW! I am a very happy reader! Thank you so much for taking a moment to have a sit down with us today, Christi. It’s was a pleasure to have you here and a huge congratulations on the release of A Fine Romance!
A Fine Romance
Book 2 in the Aisle Bound Series
Back of the Book:
They say you form your first impression of someone within thirty seconds of meeting them. Or, in Mira Parrish’s case, within thirty minutes of not meeting them, when said person is supposed to pick you up from the airport and never shows. This is not a perfect start to her new life. Her friend Ivy is depending on her to run a new romance store, and Mira can’t afford to let her down.Sam Lyons should probably apologize. But every time he sees Mira—which is often, since his family owns the bakery next to her shop—he can’t resist antagonizing her. There’s something about the sexy, straight-laced woman that drives him crazy. He can’t get involved, though. He has too much baggage to be any good in a serious relationship.Despite his teasing attitude, Mira finds Sam too sweet to resist. (His hot body may be a factor.) But if there’s going to be anything permanent between them, they’ll need to let go of their pasts and look to the future…READ AN EXCERPT
